about
Envy is a dangerous emotion that occurs when a person lacks another's quality, skill, achievement, or possession and either desire it or wishes that the other lacked it. That can lead people to commit terrible acts in order to take what others have at all costs, be it using religious beliefs with spells, pulling the rug out at work, blackmailing, etc.
This song starts with a Muslim prayer that protects against the evil eye but it’s sharply cut by someone who believes his creed is much more powerful and could potentially harm the other by casting a spell using a Quimbanda invocation.
In the first half of the second part of the song (2:25~3:30), we can clearly hear an epic fight between the orchestra and the guitar as a great metaphor for "my neighbor’s garden is greener than mine / I’m better than him" - Creating a competitive envious vicious circle.
So why is Schadenfreude the title track which is a pleasurable feeling while envy is terrible and painful? - They are often closely linked as envy creates the conditions under which Schadenfreude should occur - if a misfortune befalls the envied person.
lyrics
Innaa a’taina kal kauthar
Fa salli li rabbika wanhar
Inna shani-aka huwal abtar
No prayers, no gods, no beliefs can fight against my Exu
No talisman will hold you for long
In quimbanda I erase your name, tear your soul, shatter and crumble your pathway
Saravá magia negra, saravá a magia
Saravá! Saravá dia e noite
Saravá! Saravá dia e noite
Saravá noite e dia
Mais saravá magia negra, saravá a magia
Saravá dia e noite, saravá noite e dia
On Friday night I offer seven bottles of marafo to drown you
Seven cigars to choke you
Seven red and black candles to burn you down
How wonderful and noble you are is something that irritates me
An unfair competition that has always disgusted me since the earliest times
An insidious pathway that whenever you succeed a little something in me dies
There won't be peace, there won't be rest, there won't be silence - Si vis pacem, para bellum!
Whenever you have... I don't possess
I triumph in your misery
Whenever I possess... you become
I woe in your prosperity
Whenever you have... I don't possess
I revel in your misfortune
Whenever I possess... you become
I sorrow in your ascension
Many by your side will fall, your family will distrust and loathe you, only the gossips they'll recall
Falsified rumors to get you dismissed, I sabotaged your decisions and pranked you to feel superior
I am stronger than your belief, I am stronger than your God, I am my own God!
Wouldn't it be a shame if you'd start failing at everything?
Schadenfreude!

Symphonic Death Metal featuring members and ex-members of Psycroptic, Sinister, Belphegor, The Monolith Deathcult and Obscura also featuring several other guests from bands such as Suffocation and Ignea.
This is fantastic! Some seriously tasty brutal tech death, with absolutely crushing riffs, rhythm, and vocals.
The album's production and mixing is also perfect, it's very balanced and allows the music to shine through the brutality.
Highly, highly recommended! somethingsomething9
Absolutely crushing dissonant death metal!
With great production and tight performance from these meat sacks, this dark brutal dissonant masterpiece will be on my favorite list forever.
Don't pass up this album, trust me it's fuckin great!

Old school Death Metal in its purest form. Thanks to Transcending Obscurity for this little gem. Found it on Bandcamp Friday. The clean singing part in „Rot of Ages“ is epic - i did not expecting this. Highly recommended for everyone who loves old school Death Metal! Sælzer Bub
