about

Chornobyl was a horrific disaster that took the lives of many people and affected countless others. The main factor that led to this disaster was pride, which can be defined as overconfidence in one's abilities or accomplishments. In the case of Chornobyl, the pride of those in charge led to a series of fateful decisions that ultimately resulted in the meltdown of the nuclear reactor.

One of the key factors that led to the disaster was the decision to continue operating the reactor despite safety concerns. Those in charge were proud of their achievement and didn't want to believe that anything could go wrong. This arrogance ultimately cost many people their lives. Furthermore The Soviet Union was a proud country and its people were very proud of their accomplishments. They didn't want to admit that anything could go wrong and that their country wasn't perfect. This also led to a lot of secrecy surrounding the accident, which made it much worse than it needed to be. This deadly combination of arrogance and complacency led to a series of poor decisions that had catastrophic consequences. The lessons learned from Chornobyl should serve as a warning against letting pride get in the way of making sound decisions

Pride however is much more complex than the one that just shows arrogance and sows pain but there’s also the one that shows dignity and satisfaction in yourself and others. Voices of the Unheard are the silenced voices of the liquidators - people who are hailed as heroes, but many of them are left with physical and mental scars that continue to this day.

"We all thought we were doing something great. We were cleaning up other people's messes and we thought we were invincible. But now I know that we paid a terrible price for our pride. It's hard to talk about what we went through. For a long time, we kept it all inside, thinking that if we talked about it, people would think we were crazy. But the truth is, we're the ones who are still sane. We saw things that no one should have to see.
We were told that we were doing something important, that we were saving lives. And in a way, I guess we were. But it came at a great cost. Many of us didn't make it out alive, and those of us who did are never going to be the same. It's hard to take pride in what we did when so many people died and so many more were affected by the radiation. But I guess in some ways, we have to be proud of ourselves for what we did." - Nikolai, liquidator

lyrics

Spring has just calmly fallen
But only into shades of red
Mother cuddles her new-born child
Fisherman son's ambition engorges to explode
The paddock has been mounted
Tacit voices of disagreement
Suppressed minds controlled by its mother
The greed of some was the bread of many for today and tomorrow

Man against man, will against system, reason against command
Thinking is not your work, you don't do it, others will
Someone has to do it

Human mistake, inhuman tragedy
Pride has turned into a ticking bomb
Blasting into air all the promotion and superiority
So easy to underestimate, so hard to remedy
Strategy invented ad hoc
Splendid hubris comes to ruin

The most magnificent rainbow spreading disease
An aurora borealis of death
Their own enemy has been created, the shadow of corruption
Don't panic come and help, come and die without panic
You are a soldier now, you fight although not in a war
Your enemy is divine, you cannot see it although you are not blind

Man against man, will against system, reason against command
Thinking is not your work, you don't do it, others will
Someone has to do it

Atomic refugees having nothing but pain
Lives left behind without any concern
A history marked into an invisible enemy
Culture ripped from its land
A new syndrome has been created
Slowly wasting away

Don't panic, just leave... leave without any panic
There's still an echo of naive conviction heard all across the ghost town:
"They will be back, they have to…"
The dream city is now a ghost gap
Misleading Правда covers everything up with the red paint
MayDay celebrated with a parade of death

Одвічний металевий присмак у твоєму роті
Зробить тебе смирним назавжди
Його образ закарбується повік
На знівечених онуках великої матінки
Хтось мав це зробити
